Circular Letter No. 97-1281

RE: Automobile Parts & Accessories Store Operations

The Minnesota Department of Commerce has approved to be effective October 1, 1997, applicable to new and renewal business only, an amendment of the Minnesota Exception pages of the Basic Manual to reflect Minnesota’s exception to NCCI Item B-1345 -- Automobile Parts & Accessories Store Operations.

After reviewing NCCI Item B-1345 it was the Association’s opinion that Minnesota should continue the use of Code 8036 for exclusively retail automobile and automotive parts and accessories sales and Code 8029 for wholesale or combined wholesale/retail automobile and automotive parts and accessories sales and that cross-references should be added to the Minnesota exception pages to clarify this classification treatment.

The attached exhibit outlines the changes required in the Basic Manual necessary to implements this proposal. Please note that the proposed language on the exhibit page contains underlined and strikethrough text. The underlining represents new or added text while the strikethroughs indicate deleted text.
