ACCCT |
Minnesota is a member of a non-profit, joint venture
industry group called the American Cooperative Council on Compensation Cooperative Council
on Compensation Technology (ACCCT). It was created to co-develop technology products
needed by workers' compensation statistical and rating bureaus. This joint development is
resulting in cost savings, development efficiencies and intellectual sharing. Linda Hanson
is the managing partner of this venture and takes a leading role in its ongoing
activities. The development of an integrated client server database is reaching its conclusion. Throughout mid-summer 1999, Minnesota, North Carolina and Wisconsin will be deploying Spectrum 1.2 which will be the base operating system for all three organizations. This new system will have a major impact on most of the functions and operations conducted by each organization. A significant impact on productivity and efficiency and accuracy is anticipated once the system is fully integrated and operational. The organizations will continue working together searching for opportunities where joint cooperative efforts can have positive impacts on operations. ACCCT jointly developed a PC software product to assist carriers in the reporting of unit statistical information to bureaus and rating organizations. This was developed jointly by members from California, Delaware, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin Bureaus. The product is called BEEP (Bureau Entry and Edit Package) and was distributed free to all member carriers in June, 1997. BEEP was significantly enhanced as a result of feedback received from a number of participating carriers through the release of BEEP 1.5 in July, 1998. ACCCT has already started work on BEEP 2.0 which will incorporate a number of significant enhancements, one of which is the addition of reporting capabilities for all non-monopolistic states. Because this product is intended to be a living product, ACCCT will continue to look for meaningful product improvement opportunities. This product continues to receive great support from the insurance carrier community. |
