Assigned Risk Plan
Assigned Risk Plan activity was mixed in 1996.
The number of new applications submitted in 1996
remained steady, while the premium volume for the
Assigned Risk Plan dropped by $40,826,325, or
almost 40 percent. (The premium figures used here
are estimated annual premiums and as such are
only approximate.) There was also a decrease of
1,976 policies in the 1996 item count compared to
the 1995 count.
Effective January 1, 1996, the Commerce
Department ordered an overall premium level
decrease of five percent.
